All Breeds Welcome: Cappamore’s Family Dog Show Returns This August

Get ready for a tail-wagging good time at the Cappamore Agricultural Show’s annual family dog show — the biggest and most popular event of the year for dog lovers of all ages. Taking place tomorrow, the 16th August 2025, this beloved section of the show has been delighting attendees for many years, and once again promises a fun-filled day for all.

Families, friends, and fellow dog enthusiasts are warmly invited to witness dogs of all shapes, sizes, and stories take part in a wide variety of classes. From fancy dress to trick routines and waggiest tails, there’s something for every canine and handler duo — and plenty of crowd favourites making a return alongside new additions for 2025.

As always, Cappamore Show welcomes every type of dog, with a special nod to rescued and rehomed dogs, who often shine in the spotlight with their charm and resilience. All dogs must be kept on leads throughout the event, and muzzling is required for those on the restricted breed list — in line with safety protocols that help make this such a successful and inclusive day.

One of the standout attractions for visitors is the “Meet the Breeds” area, where showgoers can engage with owners and learn more about different dog types, from working breeds to cuddly companions. There’s also a chance to take part in or simply enjoy the fun of the themed classes, where dogs and their handlers often steal the show.

The official start time for the pet dog show is around 1pm, with online entries now open at www.Cappamoreshow.ie. Entries will also be accepted tomorrow, on the day, and at just €5 per dog per class, it’s a great way to get involved without breaking the bank.

A full list of this year’s competition classes includes:

– Class 155: Dog in Fancy Dress

– Class 156: Dog to Do a Trick (props must be brought by participants)

Children especially enjoy the atmosphere of the dog show, as they get to see an eclectic mix of breeds from loyal working dogs to pampered pups, all putting their best paw forward in the ring. With such a wide array of classes and so much to see and enjoy, the Cappamore Show’s dog section remains a highlight for regulars and newcomers alike.

Whether you’re entering a class, meeting the breeds, or simply soaking up the joyful atmosphere, you’re invited to come along and be part of one of the most heartwarming and entertaining days in the rural show calendar.
