Equitas is needed in Ireland and in this industry. Equitas literally means justice, equity and fairness and those are the pillars that any progressive industry should be based on. I would love Equitas to pave the way for a new normal within the equine community for us and future generations.
I want my kids to grow up in a society that supports and encourages growth, change, welfare, community , diversity and individuality . To encourage our fellow equine community members to be united as a tribe and a force of nature where equity and balance is restored . Without unity we will be trapped in the ideals of our past, without progress there will be no change and without equity the next generation will be like us, stuck, in an prehistoric ideal of normal and what is acceptable. Through Equitas we will morph the industry into a better place for all. Equitas will be a legacy for future generations.

Equitas is about Empowering Change, Together. For me, it is very simple: women are not getting the respect and appreciation they deserve for the role they play in the equine industry. Our goal is to create a positive movement of women supporting women. We want to connect women around the world in the equine industry and give them a platform to talk about what matters most to them. The time for change is here and Equitas wants to play an integral role in this transition.
I want to look my Mum, my two Sisters, my Partner and my closest female friends in the eye and for them to know, I tried. I created the change they’ve wanted to see, and that we did something!! They have made me into who and what I am and this is my opportunity to repay them and create a positive movement for women that the world has never seen!!

“The gender inequalities throughout the equine industry can not be denied. While females are its backbone, the top level of the sport is male dominated. When money, power & opportunities are involved, women don’t rank nearly as high as men. I believe that when women unite, they are stronger and more powerful than any industry. Given a voice, change happens. Equitas is the means to champion equestrian women at all levels and in all disciplines. Through Equitas, women will empower leadership, fight for equity and create change right across the equine industry. I aspire to build a new future for the equine industry and pave the way for the younger generations, “The Equitas Generation”
Mike O'Flynn
It’s no secret that the majority of the equine community is made up of females, so then why are most of the decision-makers male? Who else would like to see what would happen if we brought justice, equity and fairness into our equine community? The possibilities are endless! This is the future we WILL create for everyone to enjoy!
How many wars over the last few thousand years could have been avoided if women were in charge? Women deserve a whole lot more power and recognition for their contribution to this planet, especially in our equine community!

Equitas – justice/fairness/equality – what every woman wants and needs in everyday life but especially within the equestrian field. My ideal would be to create a strong tribe of women who support women. A place to learn, grow and encourage one and all.

The goal of Equitas is to champion women, harness their power & in turn change the equine industry forever.
I’m passionate about empowering women to find their voice, agency & autonomy, Equitas creates a platform where this can happen
& I am immensely proud to be a part of it.

Horses have been my lifeline. They have saved me in my worst of times and given me the drive to improve both professionally and as a person. They have also given me the best of friends with like minded mentalities . This industry deserves a level playing field and I will be here for all the right reasons to support it going forward in whatever capacity is required.
Lorna O’Hare
For too long women were denied basic rights – they didn’t have a vote let alone a voice. I’m proud to use my voice to support and encourage the united positive uprising of equestrian women.

That feeling of being supported from the side of the arena when you finish a test, jump clear, or better, or higher than before, when you cross a finish line, or get called forward from a line up, that eruption of genuine excitement & support that washes over you from the crowd, those goosebump moments…Lets make that something every single Woman feels in the Equestrian world, SUPPORTED!
