In a previous article, I emphasised Irish breeders and the importance of producing young horses, and the FEI World Breeding Championships certainly shows this.
With incredible results from Irish riders all week, the successful completion of the week’s jumping is nothing short of amazing.
The Irish dominated Sunday’s finals with riders in every final, with the cherry on the top being an all Irish podium in the Five-year-old Final.
Mikey Pender took his first ever gold medal at this Championship with homebred HHS Ocala, a newly acquired ride. Ocala will also be available in the prestigious Woodlands International Sale on October 3rd.
Slotting into second place was Niamh McEvoy with the stallion Boleybawn Alvaro owned in partnership by Ronan Rothwell and Greg Broderick.
Just 0.7 seconds off, Third place went to Ger O’Neill and Ballyshan BF Super Hero
Having won the six-year-old class in Dublin this year, it’s no surprise that Leah Stack and Laurina jumped into second place in the world championships with an incredible jump off.
Not to be outdone, Harry Allen took the win in the seven-year-old final with Kumina Della Caccia owned by Adrienne Sternlicht. Kumina was bought by Adrienne in the Aloga Auction of 2022.
A special mention to Denis Lynch’s super stallion Cornets Iberio, winning the Sires of the World class.
