Devastating News from Racing. RIP Jack de Bromhead.

As I am sitting here at my desk, I feel numb at the News that I’m after hearing. It is a dark day for Racing, it is a dark day for equine people worldwide as the News of Jack De Bromheads fatal injury in the pony racing scene earlier today.

Son of Henry, the man made famous for training the likes of Honeysuckle, Minella Indo, A Plus Tard, Special Tiara and so on, sadly was victim of a serious accident in the pony racing scene earlier today in Rossbeigh this Saturday Afternoon.

It is something that I didn’t want to have to report, and quiet frankly I hate reporting this kind of news, but it is the sad reality of the industry we are involved in. The young lad had some serious potential ahead of him, it just goes to show how something so precious as life can be taken away so quickly.

Personally, I want to take this opportunity to send on my condolences to the De Bromhead Family at this time. It is the harsh reality of the game we are in. Nothing can be ever taken for granted, especially the preciousness of life.

It is now time to come together for the De Bromhead family. Forgetting how famous his family are, this is a young lad who has lost his life and his family are grieving to an extent I hope I never have to feel myself. Any help I can be to the family at this awful time, I am only a phone call away.

I know the family will get great support over the coming days, weeks and years ahead. It won’t bring Jack back, but it will help for the grieving process. I do hope however, jockeys start getting the respect they deserve. This is an extreme sport we are in. The jockeys put their lives on the line every single day doing what they do.

To the De Bromhead family, I speak for the whole Grassroots Gazette Community in saying we are all extremely sorry for your loss. Life is a precious gift we have all been given, and although Jack is no longer with us, he will never be forgotten in the racing world.
