David Doyle recorded his first winner under rules on Friday evening at Cork racecourse onboard Beauforts Storm for his dad Tim Doyle.
The Tipperary born jockey from Moyne County Tipperary kept it a family affair by winning for his dad trainer Tim Doyle and not to forget Beauforts Storms owner David’s mam Claire Doyle. Also in attendance was David’s sisters Niamh and Corah Doyle, who both led the 5/2 favourite back into the winner’s enclosure for the final race of the evening Coolagown Stud INH Flat Race.
The four-year-old chestnut filly by Gale Force Ten, recorded her second racecourse appearance within thirty-seven days when first appearing at the curragh racecourse on June 7th in her first outing in the Betting Better with Sky Bet Flat Race. The 33/1 outsider hit the front a furlong from home but was to be narrowly denied by only three quarters of a length by Lionnar for Joseph O’ Brien and ridden by John Gleeson at the price of 9/4.
With a second-place finish already on the Mallow card for the seventeen-year-old Tipperary man on board Getaway Charlie in the Follow Us On Twitter Maiden Hurdle at a short price of 5/4 and only just touched off by Margaret Mullins horse in Kayce Dutton at a price of 16/1 ridden by Danny Mullins. It was only a matter of time before the young jockey was to hit the finishing line in front.
David had settled Beauforts Storm towards the rear of the field, gradually making steady headway at the six furlong pole under the cool and confident jockey to take the four year old into the lead from two furlongs out, with the Doyle trained filly showing to much pace for runner up Faux Fur trained by Gordon Elliott and ridden by Josh Williamson to be beaten by half a length in the end.
Although just been touched off two races earlier David did not seem to lack in any confidence as he gave Beauforts Storm a strong ride in the finish. In my opinion both David Doyle and Beauforts Storm look to have a very bright future ahead.
