As someone who has always had a fascination with all things shiny and beautiful – earning me the nickname of “The Magpie” – I have always found that to find that really “extra” piece of tack, such as a browband, was something I had to seek abroad – importing from America and the UK.

When Brexit hit – it left me utterly devastated, because I just found the selection we had on offer here in Ireland, compared to abroad, was sub-standard and import costs were more than what I was buying.  Then – add in the difficulty of finding tack for my two mini shetlands here in Ireland and it just adds up to one big problem!

However – after speaking to Shane at Packhorse Ireland about the range of browbands that Dapple Equestrian had, he gave me the hope that they might just do a small enough size for my two minis – who stand at 7 and 8 hands high.. I cannot describe my happiness, when on receiving one – it did fit! 

As fellow mini owners will know too well – the market just does not cater to ponies this size too well – whilst large horses can have a great selection of options, it’s not really that easy for us. Particularly when it comes to niche markets like browbands. The browband itself is VERY Well made. The issue with stones in any scenario, let around animals, can result in them falling or being knocked out, but Dapple have produced one of the best browbands I have ever seen.  They are sturdy and very well set.  They also do something I have never come across, in my lifelong bling browband obsession – which is provide spares – so in the event you do lose a stone – you have a replacement right there! These browbands look in no way “gaudy” – the are elegant to the eye with clever stone placement that actually would lead one to believe they are worth a lot more than they retail at.
