The 2023 Show Jumping Nations Cup Final in Barcelona has once again enthralled equestrian enthusiasts, showcasing the pinnacle of showjumping that is the nation’s cup final.
Returning to Barcelona’s Real Club de Polo. The final consisted Eight teams, including Ireland, who had qualified from the first round on Thursday. Ireland went second with Great Britain last to jump based on their ranking from the qualifying round. All teams started with a clear score as the results from the qualifier were wiped out coming into the final.
As the competition unfolded, The world’s top equestrian talent took on the challenging course. Nail-biting moments, soaring jumps, and breathtaking agility were the highlights of the event. Including the race for the final Olympic qualification spot.
In a thrilling final round, Team Germany emerged as the victors. Their pinpoint precision secured their victory and the prestigious Nations Cup trophy. France came in second beating the other eight-fault teams Belgium and Brazil on time and pushing them into 3rd and 4th place respectively.
Brazil pipped the USA to the final Olympic qualification spot as a single time fault from Laura Kraut pushed the team USA onto 9 faults and into 5th.
Having started strong in the first round of the final Switzerland, Great Britain and Ireland took the next 3 places respectively. All had started strong in the first round, the course proved challenging with all 3 teams picking up faults in the following round.
The 2023 Show Jumping Nations Cup Final in Barcelona was an exhilarating showcase of equestrian skill, sportsmanship, and international camaraderie. It provided an incredible platform for riders and horses to display their talent and dedication to the sport. While team Ireland was not on the podium this time, it doesn’t take away from the incredible celebration of show jumping that this event is.
As the sun set on the Real Club de Polo, riders and fans alike left with cherished memories and anticipation for the next edition of this prestigious competition.
